While everybody has their own preferences, it's widely accepted that D3 has gotten the "feel" of combat down better than any isometric ARPG in existence. There is no "character" building either, as you can swap your skills at will. There's no trading and generally a reliance on set items. Maybe you want to try PvP, your own build.you get the gist.ĭ3 is more of the current "everything before endgame is a tutorial lol" kind of game, but the endgame can be reached very quickly. You've got two solid characters now but maybe you want an all arounder character that isn't as specialized in farming certain kinds of content, so you start working on a Hammeradin, Wind Druid or Bone Necro. Maybe you make a Trapsin or Cold Sorc to get the ball rolling so you can farm up / afford gear to make an uber farmer (bonus post-game bosses). It's a slower game, and the big appeal is building a character for a certain purpose. You can pseudo "beat" D2, as theirs no content that will scale with a maxed out character (could change in the future since they're updating the game). D2 is slower, chunkier (holds up surprisingly well though), atmospheric and is about the journey of building up a character to its maximum. They're not story heavy games at all, but it does matter so some folks.Įach game reflects the Era there from. I'd say start with D2 and buy D3 on super sale. I play D2 because it's relaxing and casual despite still having its challenges. I just don't like the feel of the game.ĭ2, I love the way it looks, I enjoy the simplicity of the skills and I love how each character plays differently. The pace of the game is too fast for my taste, too flashy, I hate the rag doll physics in the monsters. D3 is pretty much the same except the endgame is seeing how far you can progress through ever increasing dungeons called rifts, you have a timer and have to fill a progress bar to spawn the end boss and kill him before the timer runs out.ĭ2s end game is collecting/trading gear and runes to get better equipment to do the Uber dungeon and kill the Diablo clone which are the most difficult challenges in the game. They are both grindy dungeon looter games. It just has different challenges than D3. Last updated at 14:00:17 UTC Weekly Help Desk RAGE Loot Thread Trade Threadĭ2 isn't necessarily harder.
